My classroom

These are a few pictures of my classroom at Travis Middle School, where I started teaching 8th grade English last week. The kids can be stinkers at times, but I know that they have so much potential and are really great. One student said my class was fun today! Small victories. :)

The door poster says something like, "30 years from now, it won't matter what shoes you wore, how your hair looked, or what jeans you bought. What will matter is what you learned and how you used it." That's one of the most important things I can teach them!

PS - Thanks to my friend Darrah for most of the supplies and books and posters - when switching from teaching to counseling she offered me all the stuff in her classroom!

Our Boise Trip!!

Well It has been a while since we have been able to post, but life has been going good for us. We had a chance ot head up to Boise for a few days. We had a great time. We headed downtown one night to check out the capitol. We sure had a blast! We went went with my cousing Aaron and his wife Belle. They sure are neat people. One day we went to Zoo Boise. It was a scorcher of a day, but Em and I had a fun time taking Jennie and Hannah around. We saw all sorts of cool animals, but for me the highlight was the butterfly exhibit. Sorry about not having any pictures, but you walk in an outdoor netted area that has hundreds of butterflies going all over the place!! It was very cool. Em liked the mountain goats. But I would have to say that the highlight of our trip was definitly going up to Patty and Stacy's cabin. It was pure heaven!!! This is a view of Lake Cascade with Tamarac resort in the back ground there. Oh my, it was so amazingly beatiful. We arrived there on Friday night, after about a 2 hour drive north of Boise. We unloaded our stuff and started a fire to roast some hot dogs over the open flames. Boy they sure were yummy! We had such a blast!! That night we put on some sweatshirts because ot was getting cold. That was so wonderful!! Around here in Texas, the low gets down to a frigid 80! I think the low at the lake was in the high 40's and the high the next day was 85. Oh it was perfect. We had a fun time the next day riding 4 wheelers and just enjoying the great outdoors. Em got a chance to relax on the beach and read her book. It was just a perfect and relaxing experience for our trip. That afternoon we had a chance to make some tin foil lunches out in the fir pit again. It was great.
